I have had issue similiar to yours after a hardware upgrade to SB Audigy 2.

445179 2006-09-05 00:42:00 I've had this before on a new machine purchased from Dell (don't know if that's relevant in this case). In technical terms, this program is attempting to dereference a null pointer. This is a major fault in the program and is inexcusable in an essential system service. It is either a serious bug in Microsoft's software or a serious bug in a plugin loaded into the software (if the program supports plugins).

The only advice Dell gave me after hours on the phone was to reinstal Windows. It hasn't reappeared since.

445180 2007-04-13 23:16:00 I am new to this stuff but I was having the same problem. I wanted to figure it out myself. This is what I came up with. After wiping out my comp. I re-installed everything at completely separate intervals (including updates). The problem doesn't occur until you have updated to media player 11 and have automatic updates on before and after. Turned off auto update and problem stopped, doesn't mean it still isn't there though. Thats as far as I got--hope it helps someone. By the way, I tried the experiment three times and the same thing happened every time. CyClopes (10176)
