445228 2006-04-09 11:05:00 Hello,

I built an AMD k6 2 500 pc a bit ago as an experiment and was running fine, but as always I overclocked to 550 and now I get the errr mssage oleaut3c.dll module error when opening explorer win98se. Does anyone have any tips, I now I know I have these options, which one would you recommend.

1. Back to 500mhz
2. Download dll and install
3. try and fix internet explorer using the system tools

Thanks.

445229 2006-04-09 11:20:00 This thread deserved to be shifted to PF1 section. I think I would go for 2nd and / or 3rd option, though I don't know if this will yield any positive result :stare:

Cheers :)

445231 2006-04-09 13:04:00 Considering that there appears to be no recognised file of that name, I would panic instead.

Unless you mean oleaut32.dll

445232 2006-04-09 20:27:00 Sorry I got the name wrong, you were right. I have found out that when the cpu temp reaches 48 C or more the error messages start. I'm gonna buy a better heat sink and fan and see what happens..... yek.g_01 (10177)
445233 2006-04-20 15:22:00 Hello,

If anyones interested, I was anble to get rid of the error message at 550mh using a good socket 7 fan and heatsink keeping the cpu temp below 47c .
But I couldn't stop there with my new cooling system and I wanted to get my amd k6 500 2 . 20v AFX flavor on cpu to 575mhz, and did so with no problems  .

so . . . . I tried 605mhz (110 x 5 . 5) 3v and did so untill the temp got above 37c :stare: and got the same error message as first time when trying 550mhz .

So the key think is keeping the temp below 37, prob by getting another fan to stick onto the heatsink to keep whats cool  !!!

I can say this has been a good experience, retro computing is a good place to start modding just to learn if your a beginner and incase you fry anything, it won't be tooo much to replace . Guess its now on to the fx 60!!!
