| 445135 | 2006-04-09 05:40:00 | I'm looking to install a new motherboard and CPU soon to replace my aged P4. I currently have a RAID0 config running off my board. Can I shift the RAID0 straight to a new motherboard or do I need to move the data off and start again? | patchonline (8714) | ||
| 445136 | 2006-04-09 06:03:00 | I'd move the data off and start again. Couple of reasons - if the controllers on the motherboards are different then the array may not work correctly or at all. you could move the windows install from one machine to another but it will require some work before moving it and some work after moving it. Sometimes it even when moved it can be unstable. new motherboard and processor sound like a good excuse to me to reinstall the OS and the apps that you use, nice and clean, none of the old junk floating around slowing it down and possibly making it less than stable. |
