2006-04-08 11:49:00 | with orcon right now was on 256 unlimited for $50/month unlimited ..now 256 40G for $60/month..yea so.. looked around and saw quicksilver 3.5Mbit 30Gb plan for $70/month after orcon capped me i finally learned how to control my internet usage :p so..now i think i can live with about 30Gb extra $10..loose 10Gb that i'm not gona use..get 14x speed i'll do it! unlimited national and 64kb after cap so still okay i guess orcon's been all good for me up to now.. so never really looked at other isp looked around posts in the forum and nothing too bad had being said about quicksilver but some of the posts are a bit outdated so is there some more current quicksilver customers on their adsl that can give me some feed back before i switch isp? probably have to decide soon so they'll have enought working days to get me online on time i know there's a $45 transfer fee i have to pay to quicksilver and $? to orcon..need to call them tommorow.. so..comments comments please~thanx

2006-04-08 12:26:00 | I'm with them, can't really say anything wrong about them. Though stu161204 might disagree with me. When you say 256k unlimited w/Orcon... your referring to the old plans right? I think QSI's old plan for $70 was 10GB at 256k Have a look at what others are offering before switching. It's a pain in the taff to remedy. with orcon right now was on 256 unlimited for $50/month unlimited ..now 256 40G for $60/month..yea so.. looked around and saw quicksilver 3.5Mbit 30Gb plan for $70/month extra $10..loose 10Gb that i'm not gona use..get 14x speed i'll do it! unlimited national and 64kb after cap so still okay i guess orcon's been all good for me up to now.. so never really looked at other isp looked around posts in the forum and nothing too bad had being said about quicksilver but some of the posts are a bit outdated so is there some more current quicksilver customers on their adsl that can give me some feed back before i switch isp? probably have to decide soon so they'll have enought working days to get me online on time

2006-04-08 12:47:00 | Well, depending on whether you want the speed increase or not, here's the plans that probably work best for you: Quicksilver 30GB 3.5Mbps/128Kbps 69.95 64Kbps World-net 30GB 3.5Mbps/128Kbps 74.95 $10/10GB There's also the unlimited plans which only come in 256Kbps/128Kbps Quik Unlimited 256Kbps/128Kbps 59.95 N/A Webworld Unlimited 256Kbps/128Kbps 69.95 N/A WiseNet Unlimited 256Kbps/128Kbps 99.95 N/A Wave Unlimited 256Kbps/128Kbps 99.95 N/A Orcon Unlimited 256Kbps/128Kbps 109.95 N/A Quik(b/c) Unlimited 256Kbps/128Kbps 112.44 N/A I'm thinking Quik Residential will be my choice, it comes with Static IP too. Cheers, KK

2006-04-09 04:17:00 | For those of you that have been on 256K unlimited - is it fast enough to play games on? Just got battlefield 2 and will be wanting to play online but not sure of which plan is best.

2006-04-09 04:48:00 | The faster the connection the better in terms of latency, even with fullrate jetstream it wasn't as good as I thought it should have been, but it was still better than 128Kbps and 256Kbps . It's best to get a connection where national traffic would not affect you (playing on local servers only), otherwise you may see yourself going over your limit and being throttled in which that speed is not acceptable for gameplaying really or being charged more for extra traffic . I haven't conducted that part of the comparison yet with who's providing free national traffic, which I'll be doing over the next few days to find out who's offering free national traffic and who isn't . 256Kbps is probably not even barely acceptable for the newer games coming out . Cheers, KK

2006-04-09 04:59:00 | THKS! KAME can't wait till u get the all the info BTW can u answer any of these q's or should i start a new thread? Just got BF2 and wanting to play online BUT no ADSL so before i get it can anyone help me out with these Q -is 256/128 speed fast enough to play? or do i need 2M/128 at least? (ANSWERED in previous post) -how much data would i need say playing 10-15 hrs a week? is 10GB monthly data cap enough? -I know Ihug's plans don't include uploads is the uploads data really a big thing to play this game? -I also chked out Xnet's plans and they don't charge for national traffic-so would i be right in saying if i only played on NZ servers no data would be deducted off my plan - SWEET!??? -I also read somewhere if u r not with Xtra ADSL then u cannot join the xtra servers - is this correct? Thks to all-hope to be shooting at some of you soon :D cajetan

2006-04-11 04:49:00 | I was also wondering if Quicksilver is good cause I'm looking to switch to Quicksilver from Orcon. Quicksilver's got a pretty good deal for Studentcard holders - NZ$54.95 for 3.5M/128k and 30GB cap!!! :D And free 25 hours dial-up each month. Anyone here switched from Orcon? I just wanted to know if Quicksilver's speed was comparable to Orcon's. I'm happy with the speed I get on Orcon, but their new pricing is driving me away :( I'm really hesitant to leave Orcon given the fact that they've just purchased more international bandwidth. Oh well.. Thanks in advance for any of your thoughts. :)
