I am hoping some of you might be able to help me, I am after a decent web host and domain Reg. What I am after is at least 30 mg or more without banners or pop ups. Plus the best and cheapest place to get my domain name set up.
I have had a look and I am really shocked by what I have found so far as everything seems to be at least $35-$69 a month web hosting which is just :eek:

I already have a uk domain name which cost me just over 5 pounds for 2 years = $14
And my web hosting was 34 Pounds for the year = $96.

So am I Sh*t out of luck finding something like that over here, any help, info would be great.

444860 2006-04-07 23:49:00 Thanks for getting back guys, yes I am from the uk but now living in nz . I just wanted to see about setting my site up over here . My old site is still up and running but its been that long since I have put anything new up, I have lost all my details and information when i moved over here .
So I was just really seeing what the options were like for getting set up .

As far as I know the cheapest .nz domains would be found at http://2day.co.nz for the first
year, after that I would transfer the domain to another registrar so that the renewal fews are lower. Probably http://1stdomainz.co.nz although, I haven't kept in touch with renewal prices and transferring domains should be FREE.

I don't think much has changed but it's been a while since I looked into this.

This is still the case:

If you're looking for a .com domain name then http://CleverDot.com is the cheapest I've come across, although I guess it does depend on how strong our dollar is against US. Also there's godaddy.com who will match this price if you tell them about the above place. Both are good as I use them.

If you want to avoid paying for hosts there are some good free-hosts around, this directory has quite a plethora of them, listing what they offer and how good they are:

If you're looking for someone in NZ, do check that they are servers in NZ, otherwise you'll just be paying for support more than anything and it's hard for NZ companies to support problems with overseas servers. A lot of NZ webhosts use overseas servers, ask them as some state NZ Servers but also use Overseas ones and you may end up on that one instead of a local one.

You can find real cheap resellers, and I'm using a few, who for the price, their service has been great, only downtime I had was when switching to a dedicated server. http://www.computinghost.com/ is one that I currently use, who I find are quite fair in price, though shopping around I'm sure you can find cheaper but their service has been good, with the fact that I've had to hardly contact them for anything really.

Another host, that I don't really want to mention because he posed as an individual on this board and was actually the owner advertising, but is probably the cheapest I've found for NZ, in NZ pricing a year, if interested I suggest looking at my old post Here (www.pressf1.co.nz)
