445650 2006-04-11 01:44:00 You don't need to know a lot about it. ;) Just follow the instructions.

It is not good. It is bloody brilliant.

445652 2006-04-11 02:27:00 As far as I know, all distributions supply it (and probably install it by default). :D You might have to set up its configuration file., and start the service. Otherwise, "samba your_distribution's_name download" to Google. Graham L (2)

445654 2006-04-11 06:21:00 I second Graham - it is good. I use it for a file server for a primary school and in a PC lab at a polytechnic for file services in a MS Windows environment (workgroup in one and a domain with the other). It works well! johnd (85)
445655 2006-04-11 06:54:00 Use it at home, so the XP PC can connect to my Linux Box with all the storage space. I play MP3s/DVDs over the LAN and no problems.

At work - used as part of OS X Server. Haven't heard any complaints yet.

Samba has excellent guides on its website of how to use it. Pretty much boils down to customising smb.conf
