445640 2006-04-11 01:39:00 Until several months ago I was able to access newsgroup binary files, but recently I cannot even find any binary listing on the "List of Available Newsgroups". What is a binary file anyway? Any thoughts as to why I cannot even list any on the List ofAvailable Newsgroups? Neptune83 (10023)
445641 2006-04-11 02:03:00 It depends on which ISP you're with, on what newsgroups you get access to.

Your ISP may have removed some of the newsgroups.

445642 2006-04-11 06:25:00 Some ISPs have stopped carrying binary groups. Newsgroups have to be stored on a disk by the supplier. There are other, better, ways to distribute software now, and I think that many of the binary groups have been filled with porn and spam.

You could see if the Google Groups has any you are interested in.

445643 2006-04-11 06:56:00 You are lucky that your ISP carries any newgroups. They pretty much would like to stop offering usenet, as it is only a few customers who use them... gibler (49)
445644 2006-04-11 07:15:00 Most of the newsgroups are pretty helpful .

And cover quite a few different programs / companies .

Gigabyte/ASUS/MS (most of the versions of Windows, Windowsupdate etc), /Opera . . . Symantec, Paint Shop Pro, and even Photoshop .

Its a good thing to have, if you're having probs with something .

And you'll usually find an answer to a prob somewhere here .
