445539 2006-04-10 11:13:00 Hey everyone... Just a quick question.

www.ascent.co.nz

That motherboard... Does it support DDR2? I dunno if this a stupid question or not. But I always thought that it needed to say under the specifications if it supports DDR2 or not.. But then I checked all the latest "socket 939" motherboards for AMD... (Well, I actually only checked the MSI ones) and found that none of them say DDR2... So I wonder maybe it DOES support DDR2, but it doesn't need to say it does.

Please help me ASAP as my friend was planning on buying this motherboard along with a socket 939 processor. But he has 2gig of DDR2 ram sitting at home. And it would be a shame to connect it all up and find the ram doesn't work with this awsome motherboard.

Cheers

445540 2006-04-10 11:17:00 I would say its normal DDR ram not DDR2 ram.

As stated on the site you gave.

DDR2-SDRAM slots No

445542 2006-04-10 11:29:00 Soooo...

Does anyone know of any motherboards that are AMD 64 Socket 939, PCI-e (with crossfire) and have DDR2?

Cheers

445543 2006-04-10 12:14:00 Ignore that last post, as I have just found out that there are no motherboards that support DDR2 that are AMD... Well, not yet anyway... So now..

I need to find a motherboard, that supports intel, with DDR2, and has more than 1 ide slot, and has crossfire enabled.... anyone know of any motherboards with all that stuff?

Cheers

445544 2006-04-10 20:02:00 Well I found the following boards from Asus... not too sure whether you will get them in New Zealand though but I'm sure you can get a supplier to import them for you... based on the fact that you're after a "Crossfire" board I can only assume that your "pockets are phat" and money isn't an issue.

1)P5WDG2-WS (www.asus.com)

2)P5WD2-E Premium (www.asus.com)

Basically at the moment you're looking for a board based on the i975X chipset. As you stated before there are no AMD boards that have DDR2 support and Crossfire... at least not yet.

cheers

Wait. Socket AM2 is out very shortly, then you can have both AMD and your DDR2. which will be DDR800.

Agreed there. But which board will also have crossfire?

I personally do not think the AM2 will be out in the next two weeks and if it was by any chance then I am also sure it won't be available in Kiwiland at that time.

What do you think is a normal motherboard price in $NZ? Just curious there.
