Some degrees of varying advice if you read both threads.

The manufacturers are being over the top when they say the ammonia based window cleaners damage LCD screens, unless this is a recent purpose-built development. Plus I think you will find the screens are a lot more robust than the manufacturers and others think. We have a number of clients for whom we have cleaned their screens on a regular (e.g. quarterly) basis - some of them are up to 8 years now (mixtures of old and new monitors). We have used a variety of cleaning products (ammonia based window cleaners, isopropyl alcohol, citrus based cleaners, water, soft cloths, hard cloths, paper towels - you name it, we have probably used it - well maybe not sandpaper). And I can honestly say that years of application of various (including ammonia based) cleaners have not damaged the screens whatsoever.

Just my thoughts

445683 2006-04-11 11:58:00 I think I remember similar thread regarding cleaning.

Using Liquid Fusion here to clean both my LCD and my Camera lense.

There again I do not get fingerprints on either.

I do not press hard on the LCD or lense for cleaning either.

445685 2006-04-11 18:42:00 I use a spectacle cleaner that I get from my optician. No idea what is in it but it works well. Seems to repel dust and smoke. Just a quick spray and a wipe. A clean handkerchief is my usual polisher. (if wife is not watching).
It only needs a clean about once a month.
No idea of the price, but must be cheap or I would know.

445686 2006-04-11 22:25:00 gidday,

microfibre cloth works really well, I brought one from a camera shop for cleaning
the lens and lcd screen on the camera, and found it works on monitor
too.
