445690 2006-04-11 05:07:00 I have noticed that in the last week or so whenever I go to www.google.com I get redirected to www.google.com.au.
It used to go to www.google.co.nz.
This is happening on all the machines here at work, with Firefox and IE.
Anyone else having the same problem?

445691 2006-04-11 05:24:00 Google uses the regional settings of your computer to determine what site to redirect you to.

Maybe the regions have changed?

On all ten workstations? I checked anyway and still set to New Zealand.
Anyway I thought Google would detect your region by your IP address??

445694 2006-04-11 05:53:00 So why don't you use www.google.co.nz ? That will save the redirection. So you'll get there quicker. And won't spend your work time wondering why it has changed. :D Graham L (2)

I use the google search built into Firefox, is there any way to change this to default to www.google.co.nz?

445697 2006-04-11 07:08:00 Yep it's ihug.

Then that will explain it, as ihug is also based in Australia & I think your company might have got an ip address that is based in Australia & Google thinks your from Australia.

That’s my thought of what’s happing :)

445698 2006-04-11 07:19:00 yeah same here on Ihug.

quit firefox.

I found you can change the URL for the Google search box on Firefox.

Edit the file google.src in the directory:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins

change the URL in one of the lines to the following:
action="www.google.co.nz

launch firefox.
