| 445668 | 2006-04-11 02:32:00 | My motherboard was replaced in 2000. It is a PC100 M748LMRT. It came with a HSP56 Micromodem from PCtel. This plugged direct to the J1 modem header, a 15 male pin plug on the motherboard. USB was on an AXT form card carrying 2 USB ports, an IR Port and a mouse port. This card connected to the motherboard by flat cable to J3 AXT header. I have one PCI slot that is now used for a new modem required when I upgraded from Win98SE to WinXP. I want to upgrade to USB 2.0 to suit a newly acquired digital camera. I am advised that the only way is to use the PCI slot for the USB card and an external modem. Does anyone know of any other way, other than the obvious one of a new motherboard? Brucem |

| 445669 | 2006-04-11 02:41:00 | Sounds about right, USB 2 wasnt out in 2000, therefore your motherboard will not support other than thru an expansion card thru your PCI bus. Do you use the mouse port (serial) on the PCI card already on there?. I would remove that card with new USB 2 card for your camera. You can always use a USB hub for more devices, to attach off the new card |

| 445670 | 2006-04-11 02:42:00 | Does the motherboard have USB headers on it?? If it does, you could get an external USB bracket. If not, the only other way, is to get a PCI USB card, or buy another mobo. |
