445664 2006-04-11 02:16:00 The analogue phone signals and ADSL are quite separate even though they share the same wires, so any phone services you have like call waiting will not be affected by going broadband, unlike a dial up modem.

I'm not aware that external router/modems care what OS you are using, except that http browser is used to communicate with the router setup. What Xtra means probably is that those are the OS's that they support if you have problems.

Eg, If I had problems with my Windows For Work Groups and broadband they wouldn't, or would not be able to give any help :)

Just to add a bit, I can fire up DOS7 and the packet drivers for the NIC, start Arachne and browse the web via DOS, or more directly with DOS ftp commands, all through a Dynalink router.

445665 2006-04-11 02:20:00 Could be that no drivers were actually developed/supplied for WinME but you might be able to use Win2k (first choice) or WinXP, Win98SE to use. Always check the vendors website though in case they do have specific drivers for it.

445666 2006-04-11 02:27:00 Win ME is technically in the Window 9x family, so 98 would probably apply.. godfather (25)
445667 2006-04-11 02:33:00 Drivers would only be used if the router is going to be connected to a USB port.

As GF implies, all you need to know is how to make the settings required in Control Panel - Network for Windows ME, using Win98 as a guide, there could be micro differences between the 98 and ME.
