445565 2006-04-10 21:25:00 Have decided to install a Billion router modem.
Currently useing a usb ADSL modem.
Can anyone tell me what I have to enable in bios to get it to work.
I have everything I don't use disabled and I can't see anything that says enable ethernet.
I presume the router will come with installation instructions and I'm just trying to get ready so it will P&P.

445566 2006-04-10 21:31:00 I doubt that anything in the BIOS will get it to work.

Is the billion router ethernet based, or USB as well?

445568 2006-04-10 21:40:00 Did you plug the router into the back of the USB modem, if its got an ethernet adapter, or into the back of the case??

The onboard Network card??

I take it, the router has to plug into an ethernet connection somewhere to get a signal from something.

445569 2006-04-10 21:56:00 I don't have it yet. Getting it at 9am.
I assume it will have to be plugged into the on board network card. This is what I want to enable. I am sure I disabled it in bios. It kept asking for software everytime I booted. So I shut it up. Windows always used to find it.
The USB modem is going as far as I can throw it.

445570 2006-04-10 21:59:00 Speedy, the Billion is a combined router/modem. PaulD (232)
445571 2006-04-10 22:06:00 Ah ok then.

Well in that case if u disabled the onboard NIC in the BIOS, I guess you have to go back into the BIOS to enable it again.

445572 2006-04-10 22:55:00 More likely you may have disabled the network card in Windows Device Manager, have a look there, under device usage. Terry Porritt (14)
445573 2006-04-10 22:58:00 And if its asking for the drivers, then install the drivers for the NIC.

Otherwise, it'll never work.

445574 2006-04-10 23:11:00 Unless you have touched the bios before but I can't see why, Just plug the ethernet cable into the router and the other end into your computer the phone cable into the router and the power cable, install the software and proceed to set it up, easy. You should of bought a US Robotics Router model 9015 which comes with easy configuration software and printed documentation for setting up on the Telecom network. From taking it out of the box to operation in 5 minutes.
