My current pc powering on process goes as follows:
1) Push the power button at the front of the machine.
(at this point the pc starts to power up, the system fan starts and the hard-drive light comes on and stays on, but ther is no beep and nothing more happens. The monitor remains in standby.)
2) I then have to turn the pc off using the PSU switch at the rear of the machine.
3) After a couple of seconds i turn the PSU switch on again.
4) Now when I push the on button at the front of the pc it starts up with no problems and there are no further operational issues.
(NB. when i power down everything seems to shut down but the fan stays on until i hold in the power switch to turn the pc off)

Solutions suggested and tried
-- i changed the core voltage from 1.750 to 1.775 with no effect.
-- i've tried various combinations of connecting the on/off switch to the KT7A-RAID motherboard. It is now conncted to PN1 pins 7 & 8 as stated in the motherboard manual.
-- i've tried changing the DRAM timing (not that i fully understand what this is) from 8/10ns to 'medium' from within the Bios. Didn't work.

If anyone has any more ideas i would appreciate the input. I've already killed one PSU by turning it on and off from the main power switch.

Thanks

446263 2006-04-14 10:53:00 Have you had a good look at your motherboard capacitors??? gibler (49)
446264 2006-04-14 13:51:00 yeh, they look fine. (should i just be looking for leakage and distorting?) jon78 (10204)
