| 445939 | 2006-04-12 22:18:00 | Hi, This is my first visit. I currently have a Dell Dimension L733r with 254 MG of RAM. I plan to upgrade later this year so that I can have a new PC setup with Vista. Dell tell me I can't increase the RAM. Can anyone help? Please keep it simple. Thank you. milkingbull |

Only thing you can do, is to get another motherboard / ram (depends on whether the ram you have now, is SD or DDR ram / another CPU / and maybe another case . (Depending on what speed CPU is in your system now) . And what the requirements of Vista are . And keep whatever is in the case, If you can take anything out of it (ie: hard drive, ram (maybe), and PCI cards etc . |

If both slot full ie: 2 x 128MB PC100, then you will have to remove this to get 2 x 256Mb RAM. I dont think this motherboard will support 1 stick of 512 Mb RAM. If you have to buy 512Mb of ram, i would suggest a new PC. Keep the existing monitor, keyboard whatever and just get the box. Plll 733 cpu even with 512RAM under XP is slow enough, you PC will not run fast enough for Vista. |

It appears the board can take 256MB DIMMS, so if it has more than one slot and I would imagine it does then a memory upgrade would be prossible. However I would suggest that this is an old machine and upgrading the RAM isn't going to help much I'd keep hold of my money and spend it on the new PC later in the year. |
