2006-04-17 03:12:00 | I am having problems opening/saving office XP documents. I can open the documents on windows explorer but I can't open them through the program (ie, word, excel, powerpoint). When I click open/save as in the program, it wouldn't open any folder for me to view the files inside the folder and the program just hang. There seems to be a link missing between the Office XP programs and My Document Folder. Can anyone advise?

2006-04-17 04:12:00 | Have a look at this site (www.officearticles.com) and maybe this page (www.officearticles.com) for some troubleshooting tips. If nothing there helps you may have to do a repair of Office.

2006-04-17 06:34:00 | Did a repair on XP Office but problem still exists. I think the problem lies with Windows Explorer and not Office. Anyone has any ideas? Also did the usual NAV, Spybot etc. on safe mode but did not find anything.

2006-04-17 11:00:00 | Thanks again. Just tried disabling Norton plug-in for Office. Still no luck. The problem is probably with widows explorer. Will post a new topic. | ephesus (2509) | |
2006-04-17 11:23:00 | Thanks again. Just tried disabling Norton plug-in for Office. Still no luck. The problem is probably with widows explorer. Will post a new topic. Having not read the previous links I have no idea what you tried. What operating system? Are the files on a CD or DVD, Hard drive floppy USB drive or what? You have Office XP. Have you checked on file associations and what applications did you install before it turned to custard?

2006-04-17 12:15:00 | Windows XP . Files are on HDD . Files association are all correct . I have just found out that when I open Windows explorer to view files, there are no problems with opening/closing the files BUT windows explorer hangs when I try to close it . So I assume the problem is with Windows explorer and NOT OFFICE XP . I have google "windows explorer problems" but haven't found any fix yet . Suggestions welcome .
