| 446796 | 2006-04-17 00:02:00 | Its a long story .. but I ll try to trim it down .. and it goes like this ... I was orginally on a Broadband DSL plan with another ISP (ICONZ) and I decided to switch over to TelstraClear. For a customer to switch from any ISP to TelstraClear.. they have to relinquish their UBS connection with Telecom first before TelstraClear can even submit any requests. Somehow my old ISP has messed this up, they have closed my account at their end.. but the relinquishment request failed to get to Telecom .. until a month later (during which I was on TCL dial up) and after numerous phone calls. Now, that my UBS connection is disconnected ... TCL tell me there NO LONGER IS AN AVAILABLE PORT at my local exchange!! So someone must have taken my port while I have been waiting!! And I have been told that, since the exchange is now full .. It doesn't matter which ISP you go with .. there's no way to get back on .. until someone leaves or Telecom decide to upgrade the exchange ... So now.. I m officially on what's know as a Port Waiter list ..stuck with dial up .. waiting indefinitely for the return of broadband .. and TCL can't even tell me where I am on that list because Telecom wont release that information to them.... Is there anything I can do? This shows how screwed up the system really is ... a person can go from having broadband .. to being indefinitely stuck on dialup .. and all I did was trying to change ISP :dogeye: |

Maybe, just maybe, a port via TCL is not available because Telecom wont let them have any more? | Terry Porritt (14) | ||

| 446799 | 2006-04-17 02:29:00 | You think your problems are bad, Well listen to this im stuck with telecom for good because i once had telstraclear and i was going through a difficult patch and my bill mounted to the point i couldnt afford to pay it all so Tcl took it to baycorp, and now that bill is all paid for TCL tell me i am never ever ever allowed their service again for as long as i live, ive tried to talk to them about it but no im just a piece of **** to TCL for good now.I find it disgusting how im being treated you have difficult times in your life and you are punished for good cause of a slip up in payments thats disgusting, their must be a way around this. | Hitech (9024) | ||

Telstra isn't that hot anyway. And you can still be with another ISP. And even use tolls through another ISP. |

I bet the port would suddenly become free ;) I'm not sure you would really want to use an overloaded exchange anyway. I really find this to be very strange, as Telecom have even installed roadside cabinets in the middle of nowhere. Where abouts do you live ? |

I bet the port would suddenly become free ;) i'd agree with that, i was told by ihug telecom told them i was too far from an exchange. i still insisted on having a guy come round to do wiring. he said i'd get max 300kbps and that it would be intermittent. i currently surf at 1600kbps :D (i'm on a 2mbit plan) in short, whatever "they" say is never exactly the truth, i'd try going xtra or another isp and see what they say. |

| 446804 | 2006-04-17 05:51:00 | Bad luck with the port waiting, its a pretty rough deal . Got any friendly neighbours with a ADSL connection? A 50M ethernet cable wouldn't cost to much and it would see you through until you get connection . :) i once had telstraclear and i was going through a difficult patch and my bill mounted to the point i couldnt afford to pay it all so Tcl took it to baycorp, and now that bill is all paid for TCL tell me i am never ever ever allowed their service again for as long as i live Honestly, you are suprised they dont want you as a customer? Take some damn responsibility, its your own fault for not paying the bill and allowing it to goto baycorp . Think of it this waya, would you want to sign someone up that had previously defaulted on a debt meaning you had to send them to debt collectors? :waughh: |
