| 446685 | 2006-04-16 06:40:00 | Hi there guys. This may sound really retarded but I am a bit of a newbie. I am trying to install a BenQ CD-Rom in addtition to my current BenQ DVD Writer Rom. The IDE lead has two plugs on it. One that goes to the DVD and a spare. I have plug the spare plug into the CDrom and add a power supply to it. I have set the Primary and slaves to Auto in hope of picking it up but to no avail. If the computer doest see the DVD it comes up with a blue screen saying that there is a serious error and that the computer is shutting down to prevent damage to my PC. Help!!!! What shoud I do. Chuck the CD-Rom or is there a simple way to remedy this situation. Please help. Frustratedly yours Tim |

| 446686 | 2006-04-16 06:45:00 | Remember to set the jumpers on both to master and slave as well. Not just configure Master and slave in the BIOS. And make sure the red stripe on the IDE cable is going to pin 1 of the cd/dvd, and to pin 1 on the mobo ide connector. And power is going to both of them as well. |

| 446688 | 2006-04-16 07:46:00 | on the back of the drives there should be some pins poking out with a plastic thingy attached to two of them, this is the jumper, it jumps the gaps between pins to tell the hardware its settings. it should say what to do with them on a sticker on the drive, otherwise consult the manual. hope this helps :thumbs: |

| 446689 | 2006-04-16 07:46:00 | Its on the back of the cd's . Look on the back of those cd's . You'll see MA, SL, or CS . The blue/black thing on them is the jumper . These have to be on either master or slave (NOT both on Master or Slave), or you'll have probs . |
