446498 2006-04-15 08:37:00 Hi All......Can anybody give a link to any explanation of AdSL2+ that has been issued by Xtra, or any Reviewer? I am assuming it is faster. Is it true Broadband by World standards.? Will a diferent 'little black box' be required?

AND will it be cheaper than what we now know as Broadband? ( Yeah Ok that was a joke !!!) PJ

446499 2006-04-15 08:41:00 Hi PJ. Heap of stuff about it if you Google ADSL2 NZ. Scouse (83)
446500 2006-04-15 08:42:00 There is a wikipedia article here: en.wikipedia.org

Also at the end there is a link to a "White Paper" which should give you more info.

I think ADSL2+ is the same for nz as the rest of the world so this stuff should be relevant

Who knows, that’s up to telecom to decide that, I bet it will be at lest $90 - $100

446503 2006-04-15 11:10:00 Just wondering, I noticed that some websites bear the heading "ww2.etcetcetc.com" or "www2.etcetcetc.com". Does this mean that these websites are hosted under ADSL2?

Cheers :)

446504 2006-04-15 12:26:00 I don’t think so, I think its more to do with load balancing stu161204 (123)
446505 2006-04-16 01:45:00 The upstream speeds on residential internet connections, whether it is ADSL or ADSL 2, are far too slow to host a website unless it consists mainly of text and only gets a small number of uniques each hour. Websites are located in datacenters, for example The Planet in Texas, which have typically have 10Mbps and 100Mbps server connections and the facilities connect to the nearby backbones. More information is available here (www.theplanet.com). :) maccrazy (6741)
