446793 2006-04-16 23:45:00 Hi all, i have a concern about using desktop seach tools. If i write something private, save it then delete it will it still be in a search tool file to be accessed, or if i save a doc file with password will people be able to read it by acssesing the desktop search file kiwibits (5574)
446794 2006-04-17 00:35:00 No, most desktop search programs do not cache/copy the file. They just preview the file by physically accessing it from its indexed location.

All you can do is know where the location of a file is, not preview it if its password-protected. So passworded Microsoft Word documents do not open.

I'm not sure about what desktop search program you are using, but what I described is what its like in Windows Desktop Search.
