" went down to my local PC store and got myself a 1GB stick of RAM, plugged it in at home, and booted up my PC only to be told "There have been significant hardware changes been made and you must re-actiavte windows xp" "

Has anyone ever seen this message after adding ram?
Is there any way you could get it?

Wonder what else he did to cause message.

Just get him to ring MS, tell them what happened, and they'll tell him how to activate it.

Yes it has happened to me. Ram, HDs etc. Have activated windows so many times my code no longer works and have got to get MS to give me a new one verbally.
