446421 2006-04-15 05:28:00 Hi guys, how are these drives? I am at the mo, getting a DVD Writer, I have heard of the good responses regarding ASUS, Lite On, LG. How are the Pioneer ones? All these 4 are the same price where I am located, comes with Nero software.

Thanks guys.

446422 2006-04-15 05:47:00 I've only tried one Pioneer, well I've still got it an A06.

BUT, its not dual layer.

And it costs 4x more than what I have now lol (an ASUS 16x DL 1608P).

Which is around $80 at the mo.

446423 2006-04-15 07:40:00 We have a Pioneer 107D that's been running steadily for over 2 years now....no problems brig (1359)
446424 2006-04-15 13:53:00 Pioneer is fine.
but if ur looking for top brands then consider Plextor, Yamaha. dont know if u can get it here.

446426 2006-04-16 01:36:00 I used to have a Pioneer A03 (I'm pretty sure that was the model number) DVD burner. Never had any problems with it. :) maccrazy (6741)
446427 2006-04-16 04:25:00 Ive got a pioneer dual layer here and its wont write cds and read dvds, gonna take it back to the shop next week. Ive also got an older pioneer dvd rom and its a peice of ****. I wouldn't touch a pioneer driver ever again. Also used a lite-on drive afer reading good reviews but they werent as good as they were made out to be. The best optical drives ive ever used were LG, ASUS and Samsung. Pete O'Neil (6584)
446428 2006-04-16 08:33:00 Have you tried using different software to burn your disks? Pioneer generally has a pretty good reputation for making quality products. maccrazy (6741)
446429 2006-04-16 10:33:00 I just got an ASUS DRW-1608P2S and couldn't be happier with it.
Upgraded from an Optorite which was slowly dying, lasted for a good 2 years.
I think the ASUS is just a rebadged Pioneer anyway.

Yup, I think it is. I think the 1608P which I've got, is a Pioneer 109.

Yours maybe the same, or a 110.
