My brothers pc
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
VIA KT400 mobo
768MB DDR 333 ram
40GB 7200rpm HDD
GF6600GT

When he turned it on a few days ago it didn't pass the boot check. Instead of the usual beep it made a longer repeating beeeeeeep. as you know this is the motherboard or bios telling me that some hardware has failed. anyway he was persistant and kept trying until it started up. Worked fine for a day, but now it keeps restarting and crashing when he uses it. the problem is shown in that link above. He has an award bios and a VIA KT400 motherboard. Does anyone know what could be wrong? or what is most likely the problem. and can anyone decypher the error code. Perhaps it is a memory problem? cheers

447785 2006-04-20 00:12:00 One long repeating beep usually indicates faulty RAM.
Download memtest (http://www.memtest.org/) and try test the RAM if you can get the machine to boot.

That computer serious got some serious hardware preoblem go get the PC shop person to fix it. I sure the RAM is damaged.
