447053 2006-04-17 11:49:00 More ram and a better graphics card. (Dont we all say that :)) bob_doe_nz (92)
447054 2006-04-17 12:10:00 Spend some extra $$$ (like $20 more or so gets you a hard drive 50% bigger) on the hard drive.

The vid card looks are though it dies with AA or AF on.

No mention of a power supply..

447055 2006-04-17 20:45:00 I would also have to say more RAM, a better GFX card, maybe you would be better with last gen 6600GT but the 7300GS is a no no for gaming if you want performance.

Deffinately bigger HDD

Also better CPU if possible

447056 2006-04-17 21:16:00 And a better brand motherboard..... pctek (84)
447057 2006-04-17 21:41:00 I have just had a quick look at Pricespy and other places and got a total of roughly $750, you are seriously NOT going to get good performance, for an average gaming rig I would pay $1500 at least, what about PSU, Case, Keyboard, Mouse, Screen? The_End_Of_Reality (334)
447058 2006-04-17 21:49:00 For a budget gaming rig, yeah not bad.. but look to upgrade (esp the RAM and grafix card) Myth (110)
447059 2006-04-17 22:53:00 Why are some saying to upgrade the RAM? Is 1GB not enough?
I would get a bigger HDD, 160GB min and don't cost much more than an 80GB HDD. SATA would be better too.
Also the 7300GS is not a gaming graphics card, a 6600GT would be a better bet for a budget gaming rig.

447060 2006-04-17 23:00:00 Bigger HDD ain't gonna do diddly to improve gaming performance. But if the mobo supports it get a SATA drive, or if he upgrades the mobo, then definitly get SATA capable. Greg (193)
447061 2006-04-17 23:36:00 Bigger HDD won't help game performance but it will allow him to install more games
Some games are pretty big in size these days.
