2006-05-01 02:03:00 | Well they are giving me a choice....just got my 2nd refund and waiting with bated breath for Level 2 Telecom lackey to phone back about my "solution". Betting it will be 2Mbps/1Gb. In which case I'm off to Xnet for 2Mbps/10Gb. Won't help my speed any but its the principle. | pctek (84) | |
2006-05-01 02:43:00 | Hmm, I just tried my net connection at nzspeedtest and I'm only getting roughly 32-33Kb, the same as before  | bob_doe_nz (92) | |
2006-05-01 03:50:00 | maccrazy who's your ISP? & when does your billing period start again? If you're thinking my account might not have been upgraded yet, it definitely has been because I have managed to get around 3.2MBit at quieter times, it's just that the average is roughly 2MBit by the time you take into account slow speeds in the evening. Actually it is probably higher than that if you look at the average over a full 24 hours, but the way I worked it out I only took into account the times when most people use the internet - ie. I averaged a speed readings for the mornings, afternoons and evenings over a week (so speeds at 2AM in the morning etc when most people - including myself - don't use the internet aren't taken into account). :) Edit: ISP is Xtra.

2006-05-01 06:06:00 | HUGE screaming fight with Telecom. AGAIN the runaround from the callcentre monkeys. Yeah, not their fault but I did insist he log it all and FORWARD it to the morons responsible. While I have had my refunds they still persist in "Its being investigated to see where the issue is at, its a throughput issue and it takes time to find out whats wrong, no we can't give you an ETA". Here's a sensible comment from another ISP: "We've had some action out of them as far as the exchange/backhaul problem goes but a lot of the time it takes time to get them to acknowledge there's a problem and then it takes time for them to do anything about it. People have been complaining about the Mount Eden exchange for weeks and they finally added capacity to it last week" Now if Telecom would just ADMIT it and make a suggestion on what they will actually offer me, useful or not, I might not be so irritated. There are one or two others delaing with them, still in the stage of forwarding speed test results who are unbelievably being advised: Change your cable Your PC is too slow etc etc This to one who is using a Dual Core P4 system.... I've given them until tomorrow to get a senior tech person to phone me back, Considering they've been telling me one will for 2 weeks now and then I get CCM again with his stuck record comments. :yuck: :angry

2006-05-01 06:16:00 | I suggest that those who are having difficulties, forward your complaints to the Com Com person investigating the issue. At least then it may become more than a part time investigation. | Murray P (44) | |
2006-05-01 06:32:00 | Well i am posting all my logs and records so far of my monitoring to the com commision and to the consumer inst. I have updated my monitoring page which now reflects a full 24 hour monitoring , you can sure see the trend there. | presso (10113) | |
2006-05-02 01:34:00 | Hey guys, I am also interested in logging my speeds, and uploading to my site. If one of you could drop me a PM with the details on how to set it up that would be awesome Regards, Brendon

2006-05-04 08:18:00 | Well, I'm on Actrix 2Mbps, 21gb/mth (700mb/day), $55 (old pricing)... Used to get around 70-80KB/s when I was on 1Mbps. But after their "free upgrade" to 2Mbps, my speeds gone down to average around 30-60KB/s.... Unacceptable, so finally made the call to Actrix Tech today. Quite good service, helping me call through to Telecom now.... So hopefully, I'll get an answer. Anyone here knows the reason why (or any theories), why speeds are going down? The DSLAMs overloaded when speeds racked up to 3.5Mbps as a maximum for connections? Oh, Xtra customers seem to be handling this speed-up better than other ISPs though, I wonder why....
