| 447636 | 2006-04-20 01:26:00 | Luckymums sis here, I have got it writing to dvd by using Nero, she was using dvd rw and it sure as heck does not like them Thanks for all the help. It does have the serial number inserted, as Nero come with the external dvd, but thanks for the thought. The dvd is a dual double layer writer, BTC 16x Nero is version 6.6.014 Now we just have to find out how to make dvds run in here, cos it won't run music dvds, or video type dvds either (but does read pcuser type dvds) I have looked in the properties, but it says she has 5 changes left in the region control thingy, but in the region code, it read's 'noné, is it supposed to? |

| 447637 | 2006-04-20 01:39:00 | To watch a DVD movie, one that you would rent from your local video store, the region setting should match the region number on the disc . NZ is region 4 and most of the DVD's at the video store should be region 4 . I have powerDVD s/w to play DVD's on my laptop . The first time I inserted a movie, it asked me to choose a region (it had highlighted approriate region for me) and only after I did that was I able to play my DVD's . set it to region 4 . If you have a lot of DVD's sourced directly from US then set it to Region 1 . Don't worry about running out of region change times, there are methods to "crack" this protection . However, this should only be done if needed . |

| 447638 | 2006-04-20 01:54:00 | I would update Nero anyway . It's up to 6 . 6 . 14 (dont know if this is the same as 6 . 6 . 0 . 14, I dont think it is) . Nerovision is part of Nero, but its a separate download from the site . You may not have this, you may only have Nero . And does a bit more than Nero (for dealing with making / creating DVD's etc) . Change it to region 4 . Make sure you dont play too many region DVD's, as after you play 4 different region DVD's, it'll run out, it'll lock it at the last region DVD you played . And can't be changed . Even if you format . (maybe only if you change the DVD) . And yup . it'll be better using R+ or -R DVD blanks . Not RW . Depending on what format the burner supports . |

Go and buy another one and make sure its either: Pioneer Sony Liteon ASUS I can see from that report you did have Nero installed. However one thing, when you use Nero - it has to be the one that came with the DVD - not the one that was with your original CD - you need to first click on the Device tab at the top - it allows you to choose between CD and DVD. Did you check Nero was set to look for a DVD? But I don't like tha brand you got anyway. |
