447115 2006-04-17 21:31:00 Hey, here is the funny thing, I was in the Windows console setting up Windows and a 5GB partition for Fedora Core 5 (I now know this is too small, which is how I found this) about a week ago :annoyed:

Anyway I entered the Disk Management and it said I have 21.06GB of unallocatted space!!!! when I was in the Windows setup, I was only able to have a 45GB for 'Windows' 5GB for 'Linux' and 80GB for 'Storage' (totals 130GB)

BUT in disk management it says it is a 149.05GB HDD (160GB Seagate) which is right

I am going to use this 21GB for Linux and resore the 5GB back to the Windows partition, how can I do this, what program (free, or trial) will let me put the 5 GB back into the Windows partition with out reformatting?

Was there something I missed in the Windows setup????

Funny I never picked that up....

Thanks :)

447119 2006-04-20 02:08:00 When O/s originally installed, it was without SP1, now after service packing you have full disk size. In order to resize the windows partition and used the unallocated space, you will need a partition manager. I believe there are several trial packages you could use to shift the space then uninstall the trial package.

This is way when installing o/s which hasnt been slipstreamed to sp1 or sp2 on HDD bigger than 130Gb, u create windows partition only to the size you require. Once o/s service packed, u then use windows disk management to create partitions from unallocated space.

447120 2006-04-20 03:06:00 Yay, some bites :D

SolMiester I did not think of that, it is only XP, then I installed SP1 . . .

LOL, I have had this drive for 2 years and have never noticed . . .

Do you reccomend any that will allow me to put the 5GB back into the Windows partition?
