447905 2006-04-20 08:13:00 A freind took his PC to the shop, where the kind techie overclocked it for him  . He is now experiencing crashes and would like it reset.

Here are the specs as reported by Windows System Properties

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz
512 MB ram DDR 333 , Mobo = Asus P4PE
NVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti 4200 with AGP8x

I know you need to change a couple of variables in BIOS. Can someone please tell me which ones and what to set them to??

Also, Windows reports the processor as a 2.4ghz. Is that the overclocked speed or the manufacturers speed.

I had him run Aida32, which reports the following stuff about the FSB and other clocks ( I know enough that these mean something....)

Front Side Bus Properties
Bus Type Intel NetBurst
Bus Width 64-bit
Real Clock 156 MHz (QDR)
Effective Clock 622 MHz
Bandwidth 4978 MB/s

Memory Bus Properties
Bus Type DDR SDRAM
Bus Width 64-bit
Real Clock 156 MHz (DDR)
Effective Clock 311 MHz
Bandwidth 2489 MB/s

Chipset Bus Properties
Bus Type Intel Hub Interface
Bus Width 8-bit
Real Clock 78 MHz (QDR)
Effective Clock 311 MHz
Bandwidth 311 MB/s

Thanks for you help.

Hopefully, this tech didnt play around with jumpers on the mobo .

You'll only have to reconfigure the USB (maybe), hdd's that are installed .

What disk to boot from (cd/hdd etc)

And maybe a few other options . Then save the BIOS settings and reboot .
