447965 2006-04-21 02:56:00 As Tweak'e said in the previous post, since the firewire is onboard, you cant actually pull it out .

And pulling just the cable out from the header which goes to the front of the case, WILL NOT disable it . Or stop it from appearing in device manager .

Did you get the IEEE1394 bracket, with this mobo? If you did, have u tried it, to see if this works?

Instead of plugging it into the front of the case??

447966 2006-04-21 04:08:00 Yes i tried that aswell. still not workign. gum digger (6100)
447967 2006-04-21 04:25:00 Well, if the bracket doesnt work either (since it came with the mobo), there's either another setting in the BIOS, that does something else, besides enable and disable the firewire.

Or the firewire header on the mobo is stuffed.

Or the motherboard drivers havent been installed (see if theres any ?'s in device manager). This means a driver hasnt been installed for something.

447968 2006-04-21 04:37:00 I even installed XP64bit edition. Even on that it wont detect.
The common thing between my current setup & 64biXP is that it has SP1 installed.

447969 2006-04-21 04:46:00 Well in XP its detecting the firewire, coz its appearing in device manager.

The only prob is, it doesnt work!

What else is appearing under my network places / view network connections??

Besides 1394 connection??

Make sure there are no ?'s in device manager.....

447973 2006-04-21 07:04:00 Hmm only thing I can see is this (www.css.ap.sony.com)

BUT, this is for the USB side.

There must be a switch or something on this cam, that makes XP recognise it.

447974 2006-04-21 07:14:00 No Switch. Usually when the camera is plugged into firewire port windows recognises and ready to use. gum digger (6100)
