| 448866 | 2006-04-23 21:14:00 | hi wife has compac presario laptop 2143ap 1.66 ghz athalon bought on 10-12-03 im buying a portable dvd writer and need to know wether her laptop has usb 1 or 2 it has a cd reader but no writer it has fire wire can u tell by looking at ports or by going into operating system xp home cant find manual thanks peter |

See if any of the USB entries say something like: Intel(R) 82801EB USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 24DD If there are no entries here, with "enhanced" in it, you haven't got USB2. The ports will be 1.1 The option should also be in the BIOS. If there's a Hi Speed, and Full Speed option in the BIOS, you'll have USB2. The Hispeed option is USB2. |
