448742 2006-04-23 09:43:00 I use an ADSL connection into Ihug.
Up till a couple of weeks ago, I could stay connected and leave Outlook open and enjoy normal access at all times thru Outlook and IE.
I loaded Zonealarm and since then after a while both IE and Outlook can't gain access to the net. It still appears as if I am connected but I then close IE and Outlook, disconnect and then connect and relaunch IE and Outlook, but still neither program will work. IE just gives the message "can't display page" and Outlook tries then says error. The only way to fix it is to reboot the computer.

Any suggestions?

448743 2006-04-23 11:11:00 Sounds like Zonealarm is shutting itself down, for some reason.

Which is why its displaying cant display page.

If u have XP, go to control panel / admin tools / services / Truevector internet Monitor. Dbl click on this entry, see if its on automatic and started. Not on stopped.

Get the file in my sig below, and post the log here.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = ihug Internet

I would also check admin tools / services, as in my previous post. Zonealarm maybe switching itself off.

448749 2006-04-30 08:25:00 Did you install the Advanced Hide Folders on this machine (hfp . exe) from here . . . . http://www . softbe . com ? If not and you need to remove it . . . .

Go to Start > Run and type

cmd

and OK . Type the below commands and hit "Enter" after each line

sc stop hfprog
sc delete hfprog

Type Exit to close .

=============================

Reboot and the run HJT and remove this line and delete the file if still there .

448750 2006-04-30 09:29:00 Hi,
Don't know where hfp.exe came from.
I do have Hide files and have had this for a couple of years.
As for EasyFree webcam. Yes that icon os on the IE toolbar.
I am not using a camera at all.
I have stopped Zonealarm from running, but still some issues
Ian153 (7931)
448751 2006-04-30 09:39:00 I wouldnt stop Zonealarm while you're on the net.

Was the service for ZA stopped under services?? Before you stopped it?

If that icon is in IE, follow the info on the site I posted to remove it.

And also tick that entry I posted in the log, then tick fix checked. In safe mode.

Then reboot. And if you dont know what hfp.exe is tick that entry as well.
