448722 2006-04-23 05:33:00 there are quite a lot of patches for 9x that you should have in. useing IE on the net without them is postivly dangerous. there are still virus/worms and hackers that exploit the old holes.

AV and firewalls help but than again most infections are self inflicted so having the known holes pluged certainly helps.

448723 2006-04-23 05:55:00 If u try and get the updates from the MS Download site (they may or may not appear on the Windowsupdate site) .

There are 3-4 that no longer exist .

I downloaded the 98 / 98SE updates today - about 12 . 9mb (not for me), just to keep for whoever . BUT some updates didnt exist .

And SP4 for 2k .

448726 2006-04-23 22:47:00 Not one person has yet mentioned you should be using at least 2 anti-spyware programs. Run them every couple of days and update them often.
That will catch any keyloggers or other malware you might get. Your anti-virus program won't.
