Consumer Gaurantees Act doesn't cover wear & tear though........if you decide to burn 60 dvd's a day & after a year and a half the dvd burner fails because it's just worn out then it would come in handy, as it would if in year two you had a power surge while it was charging & it blew, or the hdd failed in two and a half years.

IMO the Consumer Gaurantees Act is to "grey" in a lot of areas. At the end of the day if everyone pushes it & claims everything that goes wrong under that 9 times out of 10 it is the retailer who ends up carrying the cost, then we moan when places put there prices up!

I've seen literally 50 I-pods replaced with never models under extended warranties.....dozens of printers, and plenty of power supply's, hdd's & parts in laptops & desktops.....all because some spent anywhere on $59-$299 on an extended warranty. Worth it in my opinion :)

Cheers
