| 448503 | 2006-04-23 00:36:00 | drcspy, oh so lucky. I was switched over to 3.5mbit at midnight last night.. and well, i'm never going to get that speed. I have the feeling i'm too far away from our phone exchange (PAP - papanui, chch). I found a speed graph on google so I did some tests and plotted out what I got. I uploaded a file directly to my ISP's nz server, then downloaded that file with a software speed meter. Meter reading (jerms.orcon.net.nz) (average download speed of 2.5 mbps sustained, upload - 140kbps sustained) Distance graph (jerms.orcon.net.nz) ("me" being an estimated distance in relation to the maximum dl speed) Both are fairly rough, but it gives a pretty good indication. I'm going to measure the actual distance from home to the exchange sometime, 'as-the-crow-flies' meh. |

| 448504 | 2006-04-23 01:50:00 | hey presso that's shocking........i'd be complaining bitterly to telecom about that it's not even close to the 3.5mb speed they supposedly are giving you......yes I know they dont guarantee the speed and they say 'up to' etc but however that is sooooo far below expectation that I'd be quoting consumer guarantees act etc at them and demanding they fix it.......that's just not good enuf.....in saying that I'm with them too and never have had any speed probs at all except once for a short time when I was getting under 1mb instead fo the 2mb I'd payed for .....found out in the end it was kerio firewall not xtra's fault......... yup been in contact with them and it has been handed to there tech team , and i get the ususal we can put no time frame on resolving your problem , that was over a week ago , and they say they will not visit a credit to my account until they resolve the problem. |

| 448508 | 2006-04-24 04:56:00 | yup been in contact with them and it has been handed to there tech team , and i get the ususal we can put no time frame on resolving your problem , that was over a week ago , and they say they will not visit a credit to my account until they resolve the problem. At least round Wyndham seems people who went from 256k to 2Mbps are ok. People who went from 2Mbps to 3.5Mbps are like me 0- getting speeds of about 256k instead. Its been 3 weeks of me ringing and being told its a network problem, not exchange or lines. This morning I said I want to know WHEN it will be sorted, no can't tell me, blah blah. So I said roughly - a week, a month, the rest of the year? 3rd Level support will ring me back.....and waiting..... |
