| 448591 | 2006-04-22 21:37:00 | When I try to install the latest version of portage on the gentoo box, it says: !!! ARCH is not set... Are you missing the /etc/make.profile symlink? !!! Is the symlink correct? Is your portage tree complete? The symlink points to: /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2005.0/2.4 I'm preparing to update the kernel to 2.6 |

Do this by typing the command "ln -s /usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/$VERSION/ /etc/make.profile" , where $VERSION equals your version of gentoo. (2004.3, 2005.1, etc) If the "/usr...../$VERSION/" directory does not exist, you do not have a full portage tree from here (wiki.colinux.org) |
