2015-05-31 11:02:00 | Made a thread about the hard drive couple weeks ago. Basically it died and took it into a HP repair place (it's a Hp pavilion 15-p011tx) they replaced it and got it back. Anyway a week or so later the fan on the side/under the laptop is very noisy 60-80% of the time and blowing out hot air. Charged or on battery, running applications or not. The battery also seems to drain extremely fast now. I am not sure if it's something software related (nothing in task manager seems to show using a huge %) or a hardware problem from when they fixed it. I have compared with Speccy the temps of when it's noisy and not so will post that below. Any suggestions/things to try? 6499

2015-05-31 11:56:00 | Hey i had basically same problem , i have a HP Pavilion DV6 bought a couple of years back . MY PC Hard Drive had died so got it replaced by a segate so far it is going good . Then i had battery problem which i replaced it with a new one and it holds charge well now . So if i had to point out i would say , graphics card could cause it to drain battery fast , maybe try and change your power settings to power saver and see if this helps . As i can said i have same problem i would say your will need new battery . When did you buy your laptop ???? If it is under warranty then you can get a new battery . Thanks

Is it just a coincidence it's happened now or related to the replacing of the HDD?Just a guess, But if the fan wasn't doing it previously, but is now, sounds ( no pun intended) they may have bumped or not connected something like a sensor. Haven't had to open one of those models, but normally its either simply remove a cover, maybe undo a screw or two holding the drive/ cradle in, replace drive and drop back in, then image the OS back. Since its under warranty still, I,d be questioning HP as to what they have possibly done. Had similar happen on other Laptops, you dont realize something has moved or come off by mistake. One last week, had to change a HDD, and didn't see a cable connecting the Ethernet port had come off when the cover was removed. |

2015-06-01 03:07:00 | With the new hard drive, I assume Windows was reinstalled. Was it a clean install? If so, perhaps some custom power management utility has now gone and is the cause of the problem. | Agent_24 (57) | |
2015-06-01 05:47:00 | Hey Wolf i think as most people know HP laptops are known to be having problems with its laptops . Alot say HP is unreliable and not good . I do agree but i find HP is a good brand since if something fails it is easier to get parts , other brands i would say is Toshiba , Acer , Asus are also easier to find parts if something fails . So yeah if it is under warrant get Battery Replaced and i would also say somehow check if the HDD is good as maybe that could also be faulty . I have found a software which you may use to Check you HDD Health . pcsupport.about.com I didnt find a good battery tester , but did you know you can contact via chat which they can give you tools to check whatever the problems you having in your laptops , previously i did contact them with heating issue on my laptop and since then it has improved , how by them give me a bios update .

2015-06-03 22:44:00 | Been waiting for it to happen again, but it seems to have fixed itself? Maybe something was lose and it came right? No new software was installed or any other program changes.

2015-06-03 23:01:00 | Or maybe some dust or fluff was stuck in the vents somewhere, laptops often have airflow issues due to the small size of the inlet and outlet vents. Difficult to clean also.

2015-06-04 00:24:00 | If its under warranty , send it straight back. If it happened just after a repair, send it straight back, ASAP. Dont muck about with laptop cooling issues . It looks like HD replacement on that laptop requires a bit of a strip down (removal of bottom of case) .So maybe it was caused during the repair.
