1401131 2015-05-21 22:32:00 We just got a new projector (Acer H6510BD (us.acer.com)) as the 10 year old Mitsubishi crapped itself. Amazing projector. Blu-rays (well everything) looks next level on it - really good.

We've got a spot of bother with the MySky decoder though. Laptop(s), Blu-ray player work perfectly (over a brand new good quality 15M HDMI Cable), but the sky decoder won't have a bar of it - funny colours, then blank. Also the audio doesn't work (not that we want to use that, but it works fine from a laptop or the blu-ray player).

Tried a 5m cable - still no good with the audio but the video did work OK - still took the projector ages to 'sort out' the image though - where it was instant when a laptop or blu-ray player was plugged in.

I'm wanting to get a HDMI splitter/switch anyway so we can have the TV and Projector going at the same time and not have to fluff around with moving cables etc around all the time. Does anyone know if a switch like this (www.ebay.com) or this (www.ebay.com.au)would be likely to fix this issue? I assume they have some type of 'amplifier' built in which may help?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks. :)

1401132 2015-05-21 23:22:00 I've had problems in the past with the MySky boxes and long HDMI runs.
Speaking to a mate in Auckland who does home theatre installs said the same thing.
It seems that the HDMI output on the MySky boxes doesn't put out a very strong signal and anything over about 5M can be a problem.

Thanks for that. Any idea at all if a switch/amplifier would help?

A good amplifier should help but I haven't tried one.
Or a nice home theatre receiver would do the job. :D

1401135 2015-05-22 00:26:00 Haha, yes one of those is next on the list. The Onkyo there now is very nice, but is of a pre-HDMI vintage.

Think I will grab that 4x2 switch and hope for the best.

Thanks for the info, I did suspect as much but was hoping it wasn't the case.
