You've heard about slow food. Now here's slow ... TV? In this very funny talk, Norwegian television producer Thomas Hellum shares how he and his team began to broadcast long, boring events, often live — and found a rapt audience. Shows include a 7-hour train journey, an 18-hour fishing expedition and a 5.5-day ferry voyage along the coast of Norway. The results are both beautiful and fascinating. Really.

This morning (Sunday) being dismal with the dew a bit heavy is a good excuse to not go anywhere, make a brew, draw up a chair, lay back, and enjoy 18 minutes of a fascinating TED talk. :D

Hope you enjoy it.

Last time I was in that part of the world, Norway was one of the three kingdoms making up Scandinavia :)

I think though, we're getting away from the point of the TED talk. This is not so much a showcase for the tourist attributes of a country, it's more of a social statement which invites participation and interaction, something akin to the national fervour we used to have with the Telethons.

But that raises a possible low cost and effective way of promoting our country to the tourist trade ...

:D

Thank goodness for Chromecast and Lightbox!!!
