1389825 2014-12-09 22:43:00 Spark will hike retail prices (www.nzherald.co.nz) for its home phone and broadband plans from February, blaming the smaller reduction in regulated wholesale prices on Chorus' copper network. Zippity (58)
1389826 2014-12-09 22:51:00 If they are sending the bills by email, quite a few customers won't get them. ;) R2x1 (4628)
1389827 2014-12-09 23:28:00 Of course the others will hike prices. They were just waiting for someone to move first.. paulw (1826)
1389828 2014-12-09 23:35:00 Increasing 40 and 80 gb plans, reducing unlimited by $10 per month. psycik (12851)
1389829 2014-12-09 23:47:00 Given that speeds here are seldom faster than dial-up, I think I'll flag the Broadband, until such time as I get the service I thought I was paying for.
Or I could pay the increase at similar speeds, 1 cent per month sounds about right.
How do you think I'd get on... :D

1389830 2014-12-10 00:21:00 $2.50 is hardly a hike .
$4.25 is 1 cup of coffee. Really not that big a deal.

But many will reassess their choice of ISP/phone provider after this (incl me). Plenty of cheaper options .

1389831 2014-12-10 00:58:00 There was an article the other day as well, that basically went if you have a separate ISP ( not Spark) & phone line provider (with Spark) that Spark will be charging you more for the line rentals relating to the internet since they are not in a package deal internet /phone combined.

If you have a package deal, Phone line, Internet & what ever else via spark, or have Telstra / Vodafone Cable (since they use their own lines) then there will be no change.

The following post from geekzone -- theres an explanation down a few posts: www.geekzone.co.nz

1389832 2014-12-10 20:03:00 Of course the others will hike prices. They were just waiting for someone to move first..I just got an email from my provider, Flip, to say that they've doubled my data allowance, for free. I don't call that a hike Greg (193)
1389833 2014-12-10 20:39:00 Spark are dropping the price of their Unlimited DSL plan by $10/month. Somehow that's a hike?

Given that the cost increase on the lower plans is to absorb ComCom-regulated changes in the way Chorus charge, it will be interesting to see which Telco's attempt to absorb those costs in their current pricing, and which update their pricing to reflect the change.
