1401579 2015-06-01 05:27:00 Fixed it :) I added the drivers from an Acronis Disk, ' SnapAPISSetup.msi' to the Boot disk and it works fine, except for taking ages to load which seems to be common to 'Windows PE'.

I have discovered a very good FREE program called 'AOMEI'. Very nice interface, all functions work. The only thing it hasn't got is ' Universal Restore '. Is compatible with W10,8,8.1,7,Vista,XP. Download from http://www.backup-utility.com/

I also tried 'Acronis 2015, works well, has Universal Restore. Costs US$39 for the Home version.

if you wanted it for Free, keep an eye on some of the Giveaway sites, they give away various programs for a limited time. Example at Windows Deal : www.windowsdeal.com Another Site is sharewareonsale.com as well as http://www.topsoftbargains.com/

Last Pro Edition I got was back in 2014

1401582 2015-06-02 09:21:00 I stand corrected, the AOMEI Backupper Standard does have Universal Restore, brilliant piece of software. It did a W7Pro system restore in 12 minutes with no problems. My only complaint is that the Windows PE rescue disk takes about 10 minutes to boot, but there is also a Linux disk which only takes 3 minutes to boot, but is limited to restoring only. mzee (3324)
1401583 2015-06-02 09:59:00 AOMEI Backupper Standard does have Universal Restore Oh - they must have only added it no so long ago.

Mind you Now that I've gotten around to it I do images to one of my servers in the form of a wim file, takes roughly 5-6 minutes to put back a image. If I wanted it to go to different hardware I'd sysprep it first or run paragons Universal Restore bootable cd . WinPE on its own shouldn't take 10 minutes to load, maybe due to the actual back up program its running.

1401584 2015-06-03 09:10:00 The Universal restore on the Standard version is a bit complicated, it involves making commands etc and I couldn't be bothered. I will get the Professional version which does it straight out.

A word of warning about Acronis 2015. When it installed my Acronis 11 was uninstalled by it. Later I uninstalled Acronis 2015 and reinstalled Acronis 11 which is now crippled and won't find drives etc. I have used 'Revo-Uninstaller' and CCleaner with no luck.
