1401118 2015-05-21 16:17:00 I have Microsoft Security Essentials and it runs a quick scan once a week and I guess any hard drives connected to my computer? Should I do a full scan and if so how often? Should I scan all my data drives? Malwarebytes is the same, it scan once a week but it doesn’t show me what drives. I’m going to get Malwarebytes for 3 computers but is it better to buy the disk or just download it? lostsoul62 (16011)
1401119 2015-05-21 19:33:00 Maybe you should get an Antivirus like NOD32 which does tell you what it scans. MSE isn't exactly renowned for its superior protection anyway. It's just better than nothing and free.

If you have a fast Internet connection then a disk is pointless (not that the installer for Malwarebytes is very big anyway!), and with updates being released all the time, will surely become out of date before you receive it anyway.

1401120 2015-05-21 22:00:00 Hi,personally I think you should get a better antivirus asap, there are plenty of free ones which are better than Microsoft Security Essentials.I run my antivirus at least once a day. Most antivirus programmes will let you set a specific time for a check eg while you are having dinner or watching TV for example.

As for Malwarebytes I would install from the internet as Agent _24 says by the time you get the disc it will most likely be out of date.

1401123 2015-05-22 00:04:00 Just download it. Free or paid version of malwarebytes? If you are paying for it maybe paying for NOD32 instead is a better option.

I use Defender (same as MSE but on windows 8) and malwarebytes free version myself, can't argue with free for me personally. I run a NOD32 free online scan every few months when all the naysayers make me paranoid about my "inferior" protection and malwarebytes usually gets updated and manually run at the same time.

My current PC has been like this since it was built almost 2 years ago and I've yet to find anything worse than a tracking cookie and the occasional self inflicted "PuP" program installed along with something else. No actual virus or malware yet.

If you are the sort of person that gets infested with toolbars on your browsers and doesn't know how they got there you need the best protection you can buy. If you never have that issue and know why not you can probably manage just fine with free software and a backup of anything important.

It's McAfee, that's what's wrong with it! :p You might as well just keep MSE, it's free and won't slow your system down as much.

If you want to buy an AV, get NOD32.

1401126 2015-05-22 02:09:00 Forget Mcafee, it's the worst thing on the planet! Adwcleaner (toolslib.net) will also remove malware. Speedy Gonzales (78)
