1400850 2015-05-17 04:31:00 bought a used computer from a friend. it was her work computer she had it connected to a network at work. Anyways now i cant make a new administrator account for myself or delete her programs or even download anything. It tells me i dont have permission to do it even though im on her administrator account. And when i tried creating a second account it said something like it couldnt do it because the trust relationship wasnt there. can anyone please help me with this i dont want her stuff on there but i also dont want to have to buy windows 7 if i wipe the computer completely clean eberry09 (16219)
1400851 2015-05-17 05:09:00 Hey since the computer is from the persons work place it must be something i believe that the company has made changes to it so no one else can change it . Yes admin work won't if it already has a administrator there . Plus as you said can't delete programs or even download makes me think it sure looks to be the computer is programmed to work at what the company has set it for like no downloading or deleting programs , blocking sites ( internet ) , and many more .

I also have a second hand computer which is a laptop , it was a from a person and i had to delete the persons data .

Im not sure really how to fix that but i would suggest there are good people like wainuitech and other who can help you .

1400853 2015-05-17 05:24:00 Have a look and see if there's a sticker with a windows key on it somewhere, if so get a windows disk and re-install windows and start fresh. Easier than dealing with inherited issues, just make sure to download the relevant drivers for the motherboard first, especially network drivers. Work computers usually have a licensed copy of windows.

It sounds to me like the login you are using is not a proper admin account, you could try this www.howtogeek.com
however if their company IT people were any good that shouldn't really work, doesn't mean it won't though. A lot iof IT people take the easy way out and rely on mos tof the users either being honest or not knowing how to circumvent things.

1400854 2015-05-17 05:36:00 A few notes i should have made but was in a slight hurry when i first created this thread. I worked for this company for a while and they definitely did not have any qualified people working on their computers it was just a small company, i dont think they intentially would have blocked anything. So hopefully that will help in figuring out how to access things. It says something about how its connected to a domain and im not very computer literate so i dont really know what that means or if i want it to be connected to a domain. Im going to attach two pictures the first one is the popup received when i tried downloading a program ( this particular one was itunes), and the second was what popped up when i tried deleting the program sage business works off the computer. both times i was in the original owners account ( she had herself as an administrator). hopefully this will maybe help clear up some of my questions. 64746475 eberry09 (16219)
1400855 2015-05-17 05:38:00 First step then is to leave the domain and join a workgroup instead - from memory, right-click Computer -> Properties -> Network identification pcuser42 (130)
1400856 2015-05-17 05:40:00 I should note that im trying to avoid re-installing windows because i don't exactly know how to clean the hard drive out properly and reinstall windows without damaging the computer eberry09 (16219)
1400857 2015-05-17 05:43:00 okay i followed your instructions (which were actually pretty spot on for just being from memory), and it said that only an administrator could change or remove the domain. which is why im confused if im on the only administrative account eberry09 (16219)
1400858 2015-05-17 05:51:00 You'll need to access the built in administrator account then - other posts hinted on that. :)

Of course, if you have a key, borrowing a disc and starting from scratch would be the way to go. ;)

1400859 2015-05-17 06:02:00 remember when i said i was bad at computers? Apparently i was worse than i thought. I used the suggested link to tell me how to access that admin account, but when i followed instructions this is what happened... now what do i do?6476 eberry09 (16219)
