449300 2006-04-25 03:41:00 Hi there!
Is there any way to get good Skype connection, without broken speech, using dial up but not broadband?
taly (5956)
449301 2006-04-25 04:06:00 taly: are you using skype on dialup, and experiencing broken speech?

Or are you anticipating problems with dialup?

I have used skype for a long time. Early last year I was on Ihug Ultra, which uses dialup for the upload. Regularly spoke with another user who was on dialup at the time. We had no problems with 'broken speech'. Although we are both on ADSL now, we dont notice much difference.

I notice some forum opinions say that: You must have broadband for skype. That has not been my experience. The dialup was satisfactory.

449302 2006-04-25 04:11:00 Read this if you are using Win2K or XP, I use Skype on dial up, I talk to my friend in Uruguay he is on dsl, it is as if he is in the room with me. I can't use the browser without slow down when Skype is running.

Also use a headset.

449303 2006-04-25 04:29:00 I am using dialup on Clearnet and I have speech broken most of the time. Used Skype out to US and SKype in to Australia-all the same. And I use a headset. Sometimes it is ok. May be to switch to other Isp? taly (5956)
449304 2006-04-25 04:54:00 I doubt that changing ISP would help taly. The other user I mentioned above, was on Clearnet dialup at the time. We had no problems.

Do you hear the broken speech, or the other person, or both?

With Skype out, do you, or the other, or both hear broken speech?

449305 2006-04-25 05:36:00 I hear broken speech, so does the other side in both cases, Skype in and out taly (5956)
449306 2006-04-25 06:10:00 Thats not so good taly. If you've not done so already, it may be worth looking on the skype.com site. There is help & support there. Have you tried the option to call: echo123 This will let you hear the quality of your mic sound.

Good luck.
