| 449020 | 2006-04-24 07:09:00 | Upgraded RAM to 2*1Gig DDR400 Legend T1264D47 - BU1LDHDE, which was supposed to be CL2.5. Picked legend because it seemd to have a good name for budget RAM. However my bios detects the RAM timings as 3 3 3 8, as does every diagnostic program I can find. I can go into the bios and manualy overide the timings trying to force CL2.5 and it boots to windows but is unstable and crashes at infrequent intervals. 1 - Is it possible for the bios to miss read the timings from the RAM, I thought it was stored directly on the RAM chip, not some look up table inside the bios ? 2 - Can anyone with this same RAM tell me what CL they get? 3 - Does anyone know where to get technical support from Legend, I have been emailing and phoning for the last 4 weeks. Computer shop just tells me it is definitly CL2.5, Legend NZ has not replied to mesage I left, the sales emails I found on their home page I have had no reply from, the only technical support number is a toll free australian number I can not call from NZ... Phoning sales numbers in Australia they tell me that there is no technical support in NZ yet, and cannot provide technical support to me in NZ. I am not meaning to flame Legend, it looks like a good customer support record from what I read, but it is supposed to happen through the shop you purchace from, but from the strange emails I have had I dont think they even know what CL means, certainly the diagnostic software they sent me to 'prove' the ram was CL2.5 does not give any information on RAM timings, only bandwidth. Instead I used the system information off Sandra to get the info on the RAM because it reports both the timings currently used, and the defaults stored on the RAM. I am truely stumped  on this and after 4 weeks have run out of options, and places to search on the web, so would appreciate any help to the 3 questions above, or other insites ... :badpc: Cheers Craig |

Legend will not deal with you unless you are the reseller. They do not deal with the public. Go back to the shop you bought it from and exchange it for something else. Yes it is 3,3,3,8. It states this on their website too. It is good ram and has a 5 year warranty (its Lifetime). It is NOT overclocking Ram, if you want that then get Corsair, Crucial or similar. |

Unfortunately the shop just insists it is CL2.5 and says they have checked with Legend and they say it is CL2.5 too, shop is in Auckland so I can only deal by email and on the phone. I searched the legend web site and found no refference to this being CL3, could you post the link to where you found this please so I can send it to the shop. I wasn't really woried about overclocking, I got it because I was on a budjet and it was advertised CL2.5, for not much more than the cheap brands. Couldn't afford really high spec stuf. |

| 449024 | 2006-04-25 12:03:00 | No one else have info on this or evidence that it is in deed CL3 so I can get it replaced ? It seems legend doesnt provide any support to end user so its up to you to find a good reseller. |

| 449026 | 2006-04-26 07:33:00 | Sigh. My previous sales guy has left and I'm stuck with new girl who obviously decided the question was too hard and ignored me. I've forwarded it to the Chief in Chrage so waiting for her to get back to me. It does say 2.5 volts, which is maybe wehere the confusion is coming from. Whatever, it IS 3-3-3-8. |

| 449027 | 2006-04-26 22:03:00 | Thanks for your help PCTek. The computer shop finally got an email back from someone at legend who knew technical stuff, admitting it was CL3 because it started with a 'T', and they are going to replace it with the correct memory that I ordered (we can only hope). I had thought it was the computer company stuffing round, but the email they forwarded me was from the same person in Legend I had been trying to email, and dated over 3 weeks after when I first told them it was the wrong memory. :badpc: I wonder how they get by with having such shocking support - hope you have better luck dealing with them in the future, cause I certainly wont. :( |

| 449029 | 2006-04-27 12:56:00 | I think lower is not better if you are trying to overclock the memory, which is limited on AMD XP system anyhow, reading that article, but thanks it is a very usefull article. I dont expect this memory to be a lot faster for my computer - it wasnt realy expensive. Main upgrade for me was getting 2 Gig of RAM, not expensive overlclocking ram but I payed specificly for CL2.5 DDR400 and I would just like to see it for myself! The shop has told me they have ordered Legend A Grade L1264D37-BU1HDHDC 0604010607 - Hynix chipset to send me which Legend says is CL2.5. I looked it up on the legend site and found no info on the timings, it is not one of the two that they advertise as CL2.5. I was wondering if anyone new the timings for this new memory before I dismantle my computer to send the old stuff back? I dont want to go through all this again would rather just cut my losses if they not sending me CL2.5 3 3 8 ? |
