448913 2006-04-23 22:29:00 I bought a Seagate Barracuda IDE 160GB HDD 7200rpm 2mb cache for $119 from xtreme systems on 88 cook road (new shop) since I was their 1st customer they gave me a free backpack. i put the harddrive in there and went on a date for the day. the harddrive seemed ok. i didn't bump it or anything but when i installed it as a slave to my other barracude 40gb IDE hard drive. it doesn't work.....1st i put it in to slave plug but had it on master mode for jumpers. i didnt realise this cos no manual! however the online one says slave mode has no jumpers on it. or to remove them. so i did. however in the bios now it detects it as a screwed up name/numer with lots of u u u u or etc. and when i boot windows up it fails. asks me to go into bios options or continue. when i do it appears in windows as recognised but as a removable disk (E:) like a usb drive or something. its unformatted according to windows (XP) and so i formatted it in windows. boom. failed at 99%. tried in dos with windows xp cd. boom didn't go past 99%. now im stuck wondering what the heck is going on and what to do... please help!!!!!!!!! cheers. james. jamesyboi (6579)

448916 2006-04-24 01:27:00 ... i read somewhere that it will try to partition itself as D drive. i alredy have a virtual partition called D drive. maybe there is some conflict here? jamesyboi (6579)
