Thats the one! But to answer my question... can I go into a computer store i.e. GlobalPC, Dicks Smith and ask for an 80 GB hard drive or are there different types? Because you know in memory there are different types, is it the same with Hard Drives? And can I install a bigger hard drive? (Something larger than 80 GB without having to buy a new motherboard?) Thanks |

Usually you have to ask for sATA specifically but it pays to check . You can probably go up to 120GB without any problems but your BIOS may need updating to recognise it . I buy most of my hardware from http://www . tastech . co . nz/ who are in Spreydon and are generally cheaper than the retail stores . The only thing is that if you have any problems with your computer recognising a larger drive and want to swap it for a small one buying from Dick Smith would be a better option as they will take the hard drive back whereas the other places won't without a penalty fee . Are you planning to install the new hard drive yourself? Your computer originally came with Windows ME - did you buy and install an upgrade version of Windows XP? |
