| 450034 | 2006-04-27 10:13:00 | My parents brought me, and themselves a hp all in one printer scanner copier. They have installed it on there windows ME system with out a problem. But when i install it on my windows ME, i get an error towards the end of the install, the install finishes and the printer prints fine, but the scanner wont work, and scanner software will not install. The error message is "Can not run unicode version of ATL71.Dll on windows 95 98 or ME, please install ANSI version". Can any one please help with what i am to do. Many thanks | G-Boy (6793) | ||

| 450036 | 2006-04-27 10:40:00 | The error message is "Can not run unicode version of ATL71.Dll on windows 95 98 or ME, please install ANSI version" As far as I know WIndows 9x uses ASCII and Windows 2k\XP uses UNICODE (16 bit not 8 bit). In saying that the first 128 characters of UNICODE is the same as ASCII - however the error message seems to be saying the driver is not comptatible with Win9x. |

If i click on the atl71.dll and then click propertys, then decription it says "ATL Module for Windows (Unicode)" seems its the wrong file mabe, should i look for a ANSI version and replace it?? |
