| 449917 | 2006-04-27 06:00:00 | The maths you use don't make sense to me. Neither can I see where the intended result would come from. Break it down into steps, perhaps and explain what you want. I am sure it would be possible, once we understand it. 4.99 x 12.5% is either 0.62375 or if you mean +12.5% it's 5.61375 7.03 x 100 = 703, divided by 7.03 = 100. Cant see the 20.145 though The +=- in the middle has lost me. |

An equal sign in the middle means the left part of the formula will be compared to the right part returning a result of either TRUE or FALSE. This is called a logical formula (a true/false result). A formula in Excel must start with an equals sign. Multiplication X is represented by * Division is represented by / Lifes too short for me to try all the combinations to work out how you arrive at 20.145. A better explanation may yield an answer. :) |

You appear to need a multiplication factor in there: D5*1.125+E6*1.593277=20.145 D6*1.125*3.58851=20.145 both are to 5 decimal places. Either way both good markups.
