449842 2006-04-26 23:10:00 How do I change the settings in XP to allow more than two downloads at one time? HoukTG (10311)
449843 2006-04-26 23:29:00 The info here (support.microsoft.com) may help.

Or here (groups.google.co.nz)

449844 2006-04-27 03:28:00 Those are the ones Speedy: MaxConnectionsPerServer, MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server.

As Microsoft mentions, it technically contradicts self-imposed limits, but man it can make Internet Explorer run faster.

The MaxConnectionsPerServer default of 2 is ridiculous for a broadband connection, since with IE6 both connections are burnt up with one web page: one connection used for text, the other for images.

I've occasionally had problems with some web site, when I get more than five simultaneous downloads, mostly with timeouts.

449846 2006-04-27 09:18:00 I had rather download files via download manager than through IE's own download operation.

Speaking of that, did anyone watch tonight's Campbell Live? The guy, living in a rural area, was downloading 70++MB on dial-up using Internet Explorer.

Cheers :)

Thanks James. At the moment I am getting a message to say that Firefox cannot find it - but I will try again later.
