Why is that.

449726 2006-04-26 23:15:00 Is 400 Watt power supply good for the Athlon or the Pentium 630 gum digger (6100)
449727 2006-04-26 23:37:00 Socket 939 will give you more upgradeability in the future. If you go socket 754 then they top out at around the Athlon 64 3700+. If you go with a 939 then they are still producing cpu's with that socket at the moment and the X2 and FX dual core chips will be available for upgrade later.

449728 2006-04-27 01:30:00 If you want raw speed then go with the Intel chip, if you're after a cooler stable chip then go with the Athlon and try to get a socket 939 chip as well.

cheers

449729 2006-04-27 03:29:00 I actually do believe that the Athlon thrashes the P4. Try and get a skt 939 3200+ though. More expensive, yet fast and very overclockable :) Neongreen (6358)

Care to explain how the Pentium offer more raw power than the Athlon? It has a higher clock speed but that doesnt equate to more raw power.

449731 2006-04-27 06:24:00 Bang for Buck chip ? Get the Pentium 805 (2.66 / 533) Dual core, highly overclockable (I'm running at 3.6 ) and stable.

Have a read here ... even at stock it isn't so bad.
